Małgorzata Barnat has been honing her embroidery skills for over 40 years. She took her first lessons from her mother, but she has learned composition and the technique of Kujawy embroidery from Maria Patyk, a distinguished embroiderer from Innowrocław. The patterns she uses are based on the ones she received from her teacher and those collected from museums in Toruń, Włocławek and Innowrocław. Małgorzata also makes pysanky and crepe paper flowers.  Every year since 1999, Małgorzata has been receiving the award of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodeship for her folk art. She has over 50 awards and distinctions for her embroidery and pysanky. Since 2002, she has been a member of Folk Artists’ Association and the handicrafts association “Supełek” attached to the Voivodeship Centre of Culture Animation ( Wojewódzki Ośrodek Animacji Kultury, WOAIK) in Toruń.
